When Dannelle King joined Sholom staff in 2013, she was carrying on a family legacy. Her grandmother Jane King worked in Sholom’s business department for 20+ years and earned Employee of the Month recognition twice. “I still have her plaques at home,” Dannelle said. Her cousin Joanne was lead baker when she retired from Sholom after 37 years, and her sister Ashley currently works in the dietary department and with central supplies.

After five years as a nursing assistant, Dannelle worked her way up to her current position as admissions coordinator. She is in contact with social workers at hospitals across the state to help with discharge planning, including reviewing referrals for transitional and long-term care, understanding insurance and cost of medications, and placing individuals according to the level of care needed.

“I see my job to help people find a place where they’re comfortable and at home, involved in their care, and able to express what their needs are and have those needs met,” Dannelle shared. “I like how the staff and the residents come together at Sholom. You see these people every single day and they become an extension of your family.”
